Get To Know The NONC Team

Our team has been hard at work, but we wanted to start the month with a fun Q&A! Read below to find out some quirky things about our NONC team.

If you were stranded on a desert island, what three items would you want to have with you?

Lisa:  Water purification system, a hat and music

Emily:  A mosquito net, a photo album of friends and family and whatever the longest book in the world is to keep me occupied. (I Googled it – it’s In Search of Lost Time by Marcel Proust.)

Jennifer:  Since I'm not allowed to wish for a boat or submarine, I'll say an enormous designer umbrella (something fun and happy) for sun protection and shade, a decked-out solar powered car with a detachable solar powered radio and light on it, and a magical, unlimited supply of nachos.

Kayla:  1) A hammock 2) A spear to capture food 3) lighter fluid

If you were to create a slogan for your life, what would it be?

Lisa:  God is my pilot & it's a fantastic ride.

Emily:  Never have regrets because at one point, it was exactly what you wanted.

Jennifer:  Connect, create, explore.

Kayla:  You can never cross the ocean unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore.

Have you ever been told you look like a celebrity/cartoon character? Who?

Lisa:  A random mix from Susan Sarandon to the girl in Outlander, Caitriona Balfe

Emily:  A few people have told me I look like Kate Hudson but with dark hair. That’s about it.

Jennifer:  Yes, and they are all very different. I've been told I look like Emily Blunt, Lisa Kudrow, Calista Flockhart, Michelle Pfeiffer, Jennifer Connelly, Anne Hathaway, Audrey Hepburn, Bryce Howard, Taylor Swift, and Sally from the Nightmare Before Christmas lol.

Kayla:  Kourtney Kardashian!

At which store would you like to max-out your credit card?

Lisa:  Travelocity

Emily: Zara. I went in there a month ago and wanted to buy all their leather jackets. They were basically the same and I wanted them all.

Jennifer:, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman, Rag & Bone, Stella McCartney, DKNY, Audi, Design Within Reach, the iStore or wherever I could get a Zaha Hadid for Blohm+Voss Unique Circle Yacht superyacht. If we're talking locally, I'd say Moss because they have so many cool designer consignment pieces for a fraction of the original price.

Kayla: Target! I always go in with intentions to buy one thing and end up coming out with ten things…

What is the best perk that you have had at a job?

Lisa:  Free parking, food and merchandise at Hard Rock Cafe, Washington, D.C.

Emily:  I love being able to work from home when I need to. When I worked aboard, I always had Fridays off and I worked with first grade which meant coloring and playing games were part of the job and also a perk.

Jennifer:  Taking international press trips as a luxury lifestyle editor. It's a fun kind of work!

Kayla:  Happy hour along with free chips and guac every Wednesday! Thanks Vuka.

What is your favorite place to eat in Austin?

Lisa:  Depends on the mood: Uchi, Vinaigrette, Maudie's, Justine's are in the top 5

Emily:  Hillside Pharmacy and Barlata

Jennifer:  It's a secret -- I have a favorite ramen joint : ), but my runner up would be Tomodachi for sushi. I love the jalapeno hamachi. The best dessert I've ever had in town was at Josephine House in Clarksville.

Kayla: My top faves have to be Salty Sow, Searsucker and any taco joint in Austin!

What was your favorite TV show when growing up?

Lisa:  Charlie's Angels

Emily:  Carmen Sandiego and Wishbone. I know I love to travel and read classics.

Jennifer:  I didn't really have a favorite show, but rather favorite movies growing up, like "The Never Ending Story," "The Goonies," and "Labyrinth." I also enjoyed watching lots of HBO. Don't tell.

Kayla:  Lizzie McGuire...Lizzie started the original Bitmoji!

If you could be an Olympic athlete, in what sport would you compete?

Lisa:  Diving

Emily:  Sailing. I have no athletic ability and I love boats so I think I could make sailing work. Plus I’d like to be in a sport that has less international focus on it.

Jennifer:  Archery.

Kayla:  Gymnastics

If you could choose one last vacation destination, where would you pick and why?

Lisa:  That's TOO hard! a high-end African safari or Bali

Emily:  Paris. I’ve been once before and would like to go back. I absolutely love art so visiting the Louvre was a dream come true. I think I’d want to see all the art once more if it was my last vacation.

Jennifer:  This question is difficult to answer; there are so many amazing destinations I have yet to experience, even though I've been to about 35 countries. I’m going to say Japan, because my dad lived there for six years and I used to rep 30 Japanese chambers of commerce and have never been. If I had to choose somewhere I have already been, it would be Barcelona -- I love that city, its food, architecture, and the Spanish culture.

Kayla:  Thailand! Elephant sanctuaries, temples, thai food and crisp blue beaches. Need I say more?!

If you were guaranteed to be successful in a different profession, what would you want to do?

Lisa: Travel photographer

Emily:  I would want to be a translator. I would know a ton of languages and would probably be able to control my work hours and travel. I find languages fascinating.

Jennifer:  I would want to work as a creative director in advertising for an international agency or brand, or maybe as a photographer.

Kayla:  I would want to be a marine biologist because I have a heavy heart for all the sea animals that need help to fulfill a long healthy life.
